The Five Objections You'll Hear on Every Fiber Blitz (and the Honest Answers)

Fiber objections are predictable, which means they're beatable. The five you'll hear by lunch on day one, with answers that are true and short enough to say on a porch.

Every product has its own handful of objections. Solar has "my roof," "my credit," and "my husband." Fiber has a different set, and the good news is that they are almost all based on a misunderstanding instead of a real problem. Here's what you'll hear, in the order you'll probably hear it.

1. "I'm happy with what I have."

Translation: "I don't want a sales conversation." Nobody is happy with their cable company. They're used to it.

Don't argue. Agree and reframe. "Totally fair, most people on this street said the same thing. Quick question, what are you paying right now, all in?" Nine times out of ten they don't know, and the conversation becomes a bill comparison instead of a debate about happiness.

2. "I'm in a contract."

Most of the time they aren't. Cable contracts are rare now, and when they exist the early termination fee is usually under $200. Several of the ISPs we work with will credit that fee on the first bill.

Ask: "When did you sign up?" If it was more than two years ago, there's no contract. If it was recent, ask if they remember agreeing to a term. The real answer is usually "I don't think so."

3. "Is this going to tear up my yard?"

This is the one that sounds like a product objection but is really a construction fear. The honest answer: the main line is already in. The drop to the house is a small bore or a shallow trench a few inches wide, and the crew puts the grass back. Most installs leave no visible trace by the following week.

If you can point to a neighbor who's already installed, do it. "Number 412 got done Thursday, go look at their yard." Social proof beats every sentence you could say.

4. "I'll have to ask my spouse."

The classic. For fiber it's easier than for most products, because the decision is small. You're not asking someone to commit to $30,000 of panels. You're asking them to switch internet providers for the same or less money.

Lower the stakes: "No problem. It's no contract, so if they hate it you cancel. Want me to pencil you in for Thursday and you can confirm tonight?" A scheduled install that can be cancelled converts far better than a "come back later."

5. "Fiber's just marketing. My cable is already fast."

The customer who says this is usually technical, and the worst thing you can do is bluff. Tell the truth: cable is fast down and slow up. Ask them to run a speed test on their phone right there and look at the upload number. It's often under 20 Mbps. Fiber gives them the same number both ways. Technical customers love being shown rather than told.

The pattern behind all five

Look at the list again. Not one of these is "I don't want fast internet." They're about hassle, uncertainty, and not wanting to be sold to. That's why the right tone on a fiber porch is calm and factual, not high-energy. You're the person who knows the network is live and can get them on the schedule. Act like it.

Objections on a fiber blitz aren't walls. They're questions wearing a frown.

Learn the five, answer them straight, and your close rate climbs by the end of the first week. We've watched it happen on every market we've run this year.
